Scope and content

Manuscript letter from Collens expressing her pleasure at hearing that Clifford Curzon had met with him. She wishes to also meet with Curzon before his trip to America. She encourages him to try the changes to her performance that his tutor Mr. Fischer suggests, "Fischer means not sufficiently care-free, it is a question of language... rather over-cautious and not quite adventurous enough." She reminds him that he only 19 and to try new things. She also encourages him to stay in Switzerland and not come home for a break as it will undo all his hard work and will probably "get called up". "I know you are going through it but believe me dear every experience you are having is helping to make you what you want to become." She queries if he likes Fischer and asks about his German and if he has heard from Mrs. Isobel and about his health. She updates him on the Northern School of Music, sharing that she has 40 new students and 95 on the Appreciation Course. A page is added a few days later after she meets with Curzon who should agree that he should not come home just yet.
