This CD contains a complete recording, sung in English, of Richard Strauss's 'Der Rosenkavalier', the Prolog of his 'Ariadne Auf Naxos' (sung in English) and Robert Schumann's 'Frauenliebe Und-Leben', Op. 42. Der Rosenkavalier: Dame Janet Baker sang the role of Octavian and Elizabeth sang the role of Sophie. The Scottish National Orchestra and Scottish Opera Chorus were conducted by Alexander Gibson, and this performance took place at the King's Theatre, Glasgow, in 1971. Ariadne Auf Naxos: Dame Janet Baker sang the role of Komponist. The Scottish Chamber Orchestra was conducted by Norman Del Mar and the recording took place at the Theater Royal Glasgow in 1977. Frauenliebe Und-Leben: Dame Janet Baker was accompanied by Graham Johnson on the piano. The recording took place on 7 October 1979. This recording has been issued by Ponto.
