Scope and content
Scrapbook, started around 1901 by CF and continued by him until 1941. With later additions, annotations and translations by Delia and Edgar Fuchs. Edgar Fuchs has inscribed his name and address on the front endpaper. Contains programmes, press cutttings (including reviews), letters and envelopes, note cards, printed cartoons, verse, and anecdotes about CF's experiences in Offenbach and Darmstadt. Also includes several pages of samples of 'How I ought to spell my name', compiled by CF from envelopes and letters received; note cards from Simon Speelman (2); and a verse by Walter Carroll. A large amount of the material is in German. Inside the front cover is an envelope containing a press cutting and a programme for CF's first public performances in England, at the Manchester Gentlemen's Concerts, 22 March 1887 and 15 October 1888. Also contains a loose copy of the Whaley Bridge Review, spring 1994, featuring an article about the Fuchs family home in Whaley Bridge.
