Biographical history
F H Carline Crampton (b.1906) was a student of violin at the Royal Manchester College of Music, entering the College in September 1923. She studied under Dr Brodsky, later switching to the viola, and left the College in 1929 having obtained a Teacher's Diploma (class A) in 1926. She later joined the Newent Orchestra (founded 1940) becoming its conductor in 1948 until her retirement in 1992. Newent in Herefordshire is close to Miss Crampton's home in Symonds Yat.
