Grieg thanks Brodsky for his speedy reply. He has passed on the bad news [to Kretzschmar]. The Manchester public ought to be well satisfied with Hans Richter. Grieg knows nothing about his proposed visit to England in February but he would like to conduct while Brodsky is in Manchester. Grieg does not desire to play his own piano concerto but would prefer either Arthur de Greef [Brussels] or Raoul Pugno [Paris] both of whom play the piece superbly. Grieg has just read in the weekly paper that Brodsky has taken up the post as director of an academy [The Royal Manchester College of Music] after Hallé and sends his congratulations. Dated 16 Nov 1895.
